Competition and Consumer Protection
Like many developing countries, Botswana is particularly vulnerable to anti-competitive practices and capitalist conduct which does not protect consumers. The Competition and Consumer Protection Act was enacted to deal with these two challenging areas specifically, and we advise our clients on all aspects of this Act. The team's experience covers the full spectrum of competition claims, including cartels, monopolisation, pricing disputes, unfair competition, price discrimination and merger-related investigations. We work closely with our clients to develop policies and standards in compliance with the consumer protection laws and advise clients to respond to regulatory authorities during investigations and other engagements. Our expertise includes:
- Merger notifications and approval
- Regulatory advice
- Competition litigation
- Merger reviews/challenges
- Regulatory investigations
- Consumer Protection Regulatory Advice
